Trinity Sunday

Jesus said to his disciples: "Know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of time." What a wonderful consolation and strength that promise that Jesus made to us is for his followers! He is with us in so many ways - in the Sacraments; in the Eucharist; in our prayers. But Jesus is especially with us always in our love relationships, especially in marriage and family life. He is also with us through our parish community. That is the meaning of being a parish - a people among whom Jesus lives. And the wonderful thing is that he is also present to our world always through us. We have a serious responsibility to build our homes and parishes into real living communities of faith and love so that Jesus can bring salvation to our world and so that our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit may be praised and glorified.

Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.

Through the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit, we have become children of God, and co-heirs with Christ his Son.

Gospel Matthew 28: 16-20
In his last appearance to his apostles, Jesus commissions them to preach the Gospel to all peoples, and promises to be with them to the end of time.

Trinity Sunday

The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of Christian faith and life. Even though we cannot fully understand it, each of us entered into the life and mystery of the Trinity through Baptism. Jesus, the Word of God, and our role model for living, was given to us through the Scriptures. In the form of the Holy Spirit, God became the power and presence within us that would help us follow the path of Jesus and follow His example on earth.

‘Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
the God who is, who was, and who is to come’

To help meet the costs of planning for and hosting this very important event in the Church’s life, the Irish Bishops’ Conference has asked that every parish in Ireland hold a collection each year from now until 2012. The first collection, which will be taken up as a second collection, will take place at our Masses on Sunday 21st June. Your generosity to this collection will be appreciated.

DRUMNABEY PRIMARY SCHOOL

Following completion of the consultation process, in which the school management engaged with all stakeholders of the school (Parents, Pupils, Staff and Senior Trustee), I am honoured to inform you, the members of the parish community, that, as from 1st September 2009, the school will be renamed St Francis of Assisi Primary School, Drumnabey. This is an important step forward in the ongoing provision of Catholic Education in our parish. It is also an endorsement of the Catholic Ethos that our school promotes at all times. With you, I look forward to the school continuing to serve the parish community as a provider of Catholic education for many years to come. A blessing to officially mark the Dedication of the school under the patronage of St Francis of Assisi will take place in due course, date yet to be set.
