32nd
Sunday in Ordinary Time

First
Reading: Maccabees 7: 1-2.9.14
A terrible story of torture and cruelty ends with a
forceful statement of trust in God’s gift of life
after death.
Second
Reading: 2 Thessalonians 2: 16-3:5
St Paul asks God to comfort and strengthen his hearers;
he asks for the help of their prayers.
Gospel:
Luke 20: 27-38
Jesus got a typical question from someone who didn’t
believe in life after death. His answer underlined his
certainty that God our Father brings us beyond death
to new life.
