MONTH
OF THE HOLY SOULS November is a month when
we pray in a very special way for our deceased loved
ones. During the month, there will be a Book of Remembrance
in our churches in Dregish and Drumnabey, and an Intentions
Box in St Patrick’s, Castlederg, into which you
are invited to put the names of your deceased relatives
and friends. They will be prayed for each time Mass
is celebrated in the churches during the month.
At our
7.30pm Mass in Castlederg, on All Souls Day,
the names of everyone from the parish who has died since
last All Souls Day will be read out. A lighted candle
will be presented to a member of each bereaved family,
in memory of their loved one. The candles will be lit
from the Easter candle, symbol of the Light of Christ,
and a reminder of our baptism, when we began our journey
with Christ, in the hope of Resurrection at the end
of our earthly lives. Everyone is welcome. I especially
invite the families in the parish who have been bereaved
in the last year.
INDULGENCES:
From 12 o’clock noon on 1 Nov until midnight on
2 Nov, all who have confessed, received Holy Communion
and prayed for the Pope’s intentions, (one Our
Father, one Hail Mary and a prayer of one’s choice),
can gain a Plenary Indulgence by visiting a church,
and there reciting one Our Father and the Apostles’
Creed.
All
who visit a cemetery and pray for the dead may gain
a plenary indulgence from 1 Nov – 8 Nov.
VISITATION OF THE SICK AND HOUSEBOUND Please
note that visitation of the sick and housebound for
November will not take place until next week (9, 10
& 11 Nov). Full details will be published in next
week’s newsletter. If you know of anyone who is
visited on the sick round, please make sure that they
know I will not be visiting them until next week. Thank
you.

PARENTS OF SACRAMENTAL CHILDREN There
will be a Sacramental Talk on the evening of Wednesday
30 November, in St Patrick’s Hall, Castlederg,
for the parents of the children at our three primary
schools who are taking the Sacraments of Reconciliation,
Eucharist and Confirmation this coming year. The Talk
will be delivered by members of the Diocesan Catechetical
Centre. Please take note of the date.

As mentioned last week, in preparation for the 2012
International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin
next June, seven local parishes are involved in a programme
(Lent and November) of reflections on the meaning of
the Mass, focusing on each of the four parts of the
Mass in turn. Dregish and Drumnabey have been involved
in this programme. To date, we have focussed on the
Introductory Rites and the Liturgy of the Word.
In November,
each of the seven parishes will hold Evenings of Reflection
on the third part of the Mass, The Bread of Life: the
Offertory, Preface, Eucharistic Prayer and Doxology
(Through Him, And with Him...). In our parish, we will
hold two Evenings, one in St Mary’s, Dregish,
on Wednesday 16th, when we will focus on the Offertory
and Preface and one in St Francis of Assisi, Drumnabey,
on Thursday 17th, when we will focus on the Eucharistic
Prayer and Doxology.
There will be
a concluding gathering, in which all seven parishes
will participate, in the Church of Christ the King,
Strathroy, for the celebration of Mass on Wednesday
23 November at 8.00pm.
TRADITIONAL IRISH MUSIC CONCERT, organised
by AranDerg CCE, will be held in St Patrick’s

perform, including Annette Owens, Paddy McMenamin, Michael
Curran and Conor Woods. Tickets £5 / €6,
